Faults, Symptoms & Repair Options
California and California T owners should pay particular attention to the seven-speed DCT and retractable hardtop. A roof warning and a gearbox warning need different diagnostic paths even if both appear after storage.
California / California T seven-speed DCT
Ferrari provides seal, casing and filter leak-repair procedures for this seven-speed DCT. [1]
Identify the fluid and exact leak location first. A stain on the undertray does not establish whether a seal repair, another component or internal gearbox work is needed.
California / California T; pump specification varies
Ferrari documents roof hydraulic leakage; specialist pump repairs also address pressure loss. [2] [3]
Report a slowing or interrupted roof cycle and inspect for fluid residue. Confirm pump and cylinder condition before replacing an entire roof assembly.
Selected 2009–2017 California-family builds
Ferrari recalled selected cars for a reservoir-cap venting defect. [4]
Confirm the cap/software campaign by VIN. A low-fluid warning or altered pedal feel needs immediate assessment; topping up alone is not a completed repair.
Naturally aspirated California / turbocharged California T
Match the fault record to the engine version. Note whether rough running happens at start-up or under load and include recent battery, ignition or fuel-system work.
A documented fault is not a prediction for every car. These checks depend on the VIN, engine, equipment and service history. Recall references may describe US-market vehicles; confirm Canadian applicability and completion with the manufacturer. Recall remedies are arranged through its authorized network.
Start with the model year, VIN, symptoms and previous invoices. We discuss the inspection needed to identify the cause, then explain the findings and proposed work. A warning message or a fault listed above does not, by itself, establish which part needs replacement.

Before you buy
A Ferrari California pre-purchase inspection adds condition and service-history context to a seller’s description. Contact us with the listing and VIN to agree the scope and arrange access.
Inspection scope depends on access, condition and equipment. A PPI records findings at the time; it cannot predict every future repair.
Maintenance, with context
Model year, specification, mileage and use decide the schedule. Bring the service history so the next visit addresses what is due.
Share the VIN, mileage, model year and previous invoices. We identify the applicable manufacturer schedule and any outstanding work.
Fluids, filters, plugs and driveline items are selected for the actual powertrain. We do not apply a universal interval across generations.
A warning light, leak or intermittent symptom may need testing before a repair can be quoted. We explain the proposed work and next step.
Document completed work, findings and future priorities so the next service starts with a clear history.
