The 488 family combines a mid-mounted twin-turbo V8 with a dual-clutch transmission. GTB, Spider and Pista examples differ in equipment and use, making a complete history useful before planning the work.

Faults, Symptoms & Repair Options
The 488 GTB, Spider and Pista use a seven-speed DCT behind the twin-turbo V8. Identify the fault and gearbox specification before deciding between a seal repair, sensor work, clutch replacement or internal rebuild.
488 seven-speed DCT
Internal seal faults and weep-hole leaks are among the repairs covered by our 458/488 transmission service. [1] [2]
Have the leak traced and fluid condition assessed. Do not block a drain opening or assume that every visible gearbox leak has the same cause.

Our transmission service includes speed- and pressure-sensor fault diagnosis. [1]
Bring the warning message and note whether gears disappear when hot. Wiring, pressure data and fault codes help distinguish a sensor concern from mechanical damage.

Synchronizer-ring wear is an internal repair possibility covered by our gearbox service. [1]
A missed shift alone is not proof of worn synchros. Evaluate selector operation, pressure and debris before deciding that the gearbox needs opening.

Clutch-pack wear is another cause investigated by our transmission repair team. [1]
Describe the conditions rather than repeatedly reproducing a slipping event. Check clutch behaviour and control data before treating an adaptation reset as a lasting repair.

Ferrari recalled selected cars for a reservoir-cap venting defect. [3] [4]
Confirm the cap/software campaign by VIN. A low-fluid warning or altered pedal feel needs immediate assessment; topping up alone is not a completed repair.
A documented fault is not a prediction for every car. These checks depend on the VIN, engine, equipment and service history. Recall references may describe US-market vehicles; confirm Canadian applicability and completion with the manufacturer. Recall remedies are arranged through its authorized network.
Not necessarily. The fault may involve a leak, sensor, control problem, clutch or internal wear. Our Ferrari 458/488 transmission service starts with diagnosis and then identifies the repair options for the actual fault.
Sources checked 7 September 2026. Bulletin and campaign applicability must be confirmed for the individual vehicle.

Before you buy
A Ferrari 488 pre-purchase inspection adds condition and service-history context to a seller’s description. Contact us with the listing and VIN to agree the scope and arrange access.
Inspection scope depends on access, condition and equipment. A PPI records findings at the time; it cannot predict every future repair.
Maintenance, with context
Model year, specification, mileage and use decide the schedule. Bring the service history so the next visit addresses what is due.
Share the VIN, mileage, model year and previous invoices. We identify the applicable manufacturer schedule and any outstanding work.
Fluids, filters, plugs and driveline items are selected for the actual powertrain. We do not apply a universal interval across generations.
A warning light, leak or intermittent symptom may need testing before a repair can be quoted. We explain the proposed work and next step.
Document completed work, findings and future priorities so the next service starts with a clear history.
Before your visit
This page is an introduction to Ferrari 488 care, with GTB / Spider / Pista as the main model group. The animated vehicle is identified above. Send the VIN and model year so we can confirm support and the correct service scope for your car.
No. It is an illustrative engineering concept of the identified vehicle. Component shape, arrangement and equipment can differ from your car; workshop procedures and parts selection use the actual vehicle specification.
Contact us with the Ferrari 488 listing, VIN, location and timing. We can discuss an inspection scope, access requirements and what can be checked before you commit to the purchase.
The schedule depends on model year, powertrain, mileage, time and use. Share the service book or previous invoices and we will help identify what is due for the specific car.
