The 296 GTB/GTS is a V6 plug-in hybrid with an eight-speed DCT. A documented early fuel-pipe recall is distinct from general hybrid or charging diagnosis; 458/488 gearbox fault assumptions do not automatically apply.

Contact with the battery protection cover can damage the fuel connecting pipe. [1]
Confirm recall RC 85 / 23V-329 completion. The affected-vehicle notice advises no driving until repaired; a fuel smell warrants immediate assistance.
296 plug-in hybrid
Note the charger, outside temperature, state of charge and exact warning. Comparing AC and DC charging behaviour helps distinguish a charging-site problem from a vehicle fault; range alone does not prove battery failure.
296 eight-speed DCT and electric drive
Save the exact message and state of charge. A fault affecting electric operation, starting or gear selection needs system-wide diagnosis rather than a seven-speed DCT repair assumption.
296 GTS only
Report the exact stage where the roof stops and any damp trim. Check the luggage divider, latch feedback, hydraulics and battery condition as applicable; forcing the mechanism can compound the problem.
