Winter Tire Packages
Ontario winters are tough on European performance cars. Summer-spec tires harden below 7°C and lose grip even on dry pavement, the salt and slush corrode brake hardware and wheel finishes, and a single curb hit on a forged summer wheel can cost over $1,000 to refinish. The solution is a proper winter setup — dedicated winter tires on dedicated winter wheels — and Foreign Automotive carries complete packages for nearly every European and exotic car owners in Kitchener-Waterloo and across the GTA drive.
Why Dedicated Winter Wheels Matter
Running winter tires on your summer wheels is a common mistake. Two reasons it's a bad idea: first, the cost and time of remounting tires twice a year exceeds the cost of dedicated winter wheels within 2–3 seasons. Second, salt destroys expensive summer wheels. A forged set that cost $3,500–7,000 new can lose half its value after a single winter of corrosion damage. Dedicated winter wheels — typically cost-effective cast aluminum or budget forged options — take the abuse and protect the summer set.

- Four premium winter tires — Michelin X-Ice, Pirelli Winter Sottozero, Bridgestone Blizzak, or Continental WinterContact depending on application
- TPMS sensors fitted, programmed, and paired to your vehicle
- Wheel mounting and balancing on our Hunter Road Force balancer
- Hub-centric installation with correct lug torque
- Wheel weights matched to wheel finish (no ugly stick-on weights on a polished wheel)
- Optional: storage of your summer setup at our facility during winter months
Tire Brands We Recommend
For most European luxury and performance cars, we recommend Michelin Pilot Alpin or Michelin X-Ice Snow as the premium standard — the highest grip in cold dry, wet, and snow conditions, with the lowest tread noise. Pirelli Winter Sottozero is a strong alternative for AMG, M-Power, and RS-platform cars where higher-performance characteristics matter even in winter. Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 is our value pick — excellent ice grip, longer wear life, lower price point.
Fitment and Sizing
European cars often require careful fitment selection on winter packages. The wheel offset, the diameter (going down 1–2 inches from summer size is often beneficial for winter traction), brake caliper clearance on M-Power and RS cars, and TPMS protocol compatibility all factor in. We've fitted hundreds of European winter setups and we know what works on each platform.
Storage Service
If you don't have garage space for two sets of wheels, we offer seasonal wheel storage at our Kitchener facility. We catalogue, pressure-check, and inspect each wheel before storing, and we have them ready when you book the swap.
