The Competition Clutch story

Competition Clutch is a clutch specialist manufacturing stage-tuned performance systems for multiple platforms. For European enthusiasts, Competition Clutch offers fitments across BMW M-Sport, Audi TT/S3/S4/RS models, Porsche, and Volkswagen turbocharged platforms. Their modular approach offers Stage 1 through Stage 3+ systems, allowing customers to select friction material and engagement character matching their power level and driving intentions.

Competition Clutch's engineering emphasizes engagement feel and holding capacity across different power ranges. Stage 1 and 2 systems use organic friction materials for smooth engagement and street drivability. Stage 3+ stages use sintered metallic materials for maximum holding capacity and durability under high boost and modified engines. Each stage is precisely engineered for predictable, confident engagement without chatter or unusual behavior.

Competition Clutch — frequently asked

Common questions from Competition Clutch customers across Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and the GTA. Don't see yours? Call us at (519) 894-9551.

What's the difference between Competition Clutch Stage 1, 3, and 4?
Stage 1 is sprung (street-friendly, progressive bite, easier modulation). Stage 3 is solid-disc (aggressive, higher clamping force, track-capable). Stage 4 is extreme track-only (maximum hold, harsh engagement). Choose Stage 1 for daily driving with occasional spirited use, Stage 3 for track-focused builds, Stage 4 for serious racing.
How much power can a Competition Clutch handle?
Stage 1 handles stock to mild power levels. Stage 3 handles turbocharged platforms and significant modifications. Stage 4 is for extreme power and racing. We'll spec the right stage based on your engine's power output.
Will a Competition Clutch be driveable as a daily driver?
Stage 1 is completely daily-driveable with progressive engagement and comfort. Stage 3 and 4 are harsher — biting point is more aggressive, and they're not ideal for stop-and-go traffic. Choose Stage 1 if the car is a daily driver.
How long does a Competition Clutch last?
With normal driving, expect 60,000-80,000 miles. Track use accelerates wear. Solid-disc clutches can wear faster than OEM under sustained hard driving. Regular inspection helps catch wear early.
Do I need a flywheel with my Competition Clutch?
Competition Clutch offers lightweight flywheels paired with their clutches. A quality lightweight flywheel improves throttle response and is recommended for performance builds, but not absolutely required.
Will a Competition Clutch damage my transmission?
No — Competition Clutch is engineered for stock transmission compatibility. The higher clamping force of solid-disc clutches doesn't exceed transmission durability. Extreme power levels may stress any transmission, but the clutch itself is compatible.
What's the warranty?
Competition Clutch offers a 1-year limited warranty on clutch kits covering manufacturing defects. We back every installation with our 24-month labour warranty.
Do you serve customers outside Kitchener-Waterloo?
Yes — we install Competition Clutch for customers from Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, and the GTA. We also ship Canada-wide. Book your installation and we'll have everything prepped for professional fitting.
