Is Akrapovic worth the price compared to cheaper aftermarket exhausts?
Akrapovic is the OEM-fit choice for Porsche, BMW M, Audi Sport and several other manufacturers' top-tier performance models — these systems are engineered to the same tolerance as the factory part, but lighter and better-flowing. You're paying for genuine titanium construction (not stainless), in-house wind-tunnel design, race-proven flow profiling, and a sound character that doesn't drone on the highway. Most owners who've owned cheaper systems describe the upgrade as night-and-day.
Will an Akrapovic exhaust pass Ontario emissions and safety inspection?
Akrapovic offers two product lines: street-legal Slip-On and Evolution systems that retain catalytic converters and meet ECE/EPA noise standards, and Track Race systems intended for closed-course use only. The street-legal systems pass Ontario Drive Clean and MTO safety inspections without issue when properly installed. We'll always advise which system fits your intended use before you order.
How much horsepower will I gain from an Akrapovic exhaust?
Gains depend on your vehicle and the specific system, but typical results we measure on our dyno are 8-15 hp on naturally-aspirated cars and 15-30 hp on turbocharged platforms (especially when paired with a downpipe). The bigger gain is often torque across the mid-range, which makes the car feel meaningfully quicker on the road. We provide dyno graphs with every install.
Do you handle the installation, or is it shipped only?
Both. We ship Akrapovic systems anywhere in Canada with free freight on most orders. For local Ontario customers, we strongly recommend installing with us — our techs are trained on the specific torque procedures, heat-shield routing, and valve actuator coding that Akrapovic systems require. A botched install can damage the system or your car's ECU.
Will an Akrapovic exhaust trigger any check-engine lights?
Properly installed Slip-On and Evolution systems should not cause any CEL because they retain or replace the cats with high-flow equivalents. Track Race systems delete the cats and do require ECU coding to suppress the related codes — we handle that as part of the install.
How do I tell if an Akrapovic exhaust is genuine?
Every genuine Akrapovic system has a laser-etched unique serial number and an authentication code you can verify on Akrapovic's official site. Counterfeits are common online — buying through an authorized dealer like Foreign Automotive guarantees authenticity and full Akrapovic warranty coverage.
What's the warranty on Akrapovic systems through Foreign Automotive?
Akrapovic offers a 2-year limited warranty on the system itself plus their lifetime warranty against rust-through on titanium components. On top of that, every installation we perform is backed by Foreign Automotive's 24-month labour warranty — if anything's wrong with how it was fitted, we'll make it right at no charge.
